Ready to join the Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat?

Have you checked out our collaboration with Luton Music Service? You can borrow a ukulele or a hand drum from your local Luton library and start creating your own tunes and beats. Prefer music tech? This video also includes a quick guide to help you get started.

Once you've created your performance, we'd love to see it! With permission from a parent or guardian, send your video to lutonmusicservice@luton.gov.uk or share it with us on Instagram or Facebook.

If you send us your performance, we'll share some of our favourites and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a percussion instrument.

Ukuele Tips

Please ask a parent or guardian before borrowing and playing a ukulele or using the internet.
Your ukulele is a special instrument, so please look after it carefully.
Be gentle when holding and playing it. Try not to twist the tuning pegs too much as this can make the strings snap.
Your ukulele may need tuning before you play. You can use this handy tuning guide to help you get started.
You can find lots of fun play-along songs on YouTube. The library also has ukulele songbooks and beginner guides you can borrow.
Most importantly, have fun making music!
