At Luton Libraries we welcome everyone!

As part of an ongoing investment into increasing our offer for children with additional needs, you can find a range of resources for those with sensory needs in our libraries.

In all our libraries you will find or can request:

• multisensory books

• children’s books in large print and braille

• a pop up sensory space available to borrow (you’ll need your library card)

• Makaton signing at Rhyme Times

In the children’s library at Luton Central Library we also have:

• seating areas suitable for reclining or rocking

• a reading den which can be made into a dark den by using black out cloths

• sensory panels on the wall to explore, including a crocodile activity wall

• a light projector and light up mood table (also available at Leagrave and Marsh Farm Libraries)

This area is open and available during normal opening hours and we welcome you to spend some time here with families and friends.

Our eLibrary resources have accessibility options built in along with other specific resources which are multisensory. Find out more about iVOX here.

Widget Online can also be accessed on the public computers. This software enables you to create symbol based communication tools. Speak to the library team to find out more.
