We stock a range of items other than books that individual members can borrow for free. Not all items are in stock at all branches but can be transferred for collection on request.

Pop-up sensory tents

A calming, safe sensory space for children to relax, unwind, explore, or use with lighted objects and UV equipment for sensory exploration. Pops up in seconds. Easily accessible by wheelchair users. Requires two adults to assemble and will take approximately five minutes to disassemble.

 

Disco Ball with Speakers 

This LED Magic Ball Light mesmerizes you and your friends with its red, green, blue, orange, and pink LED lights. – Just insert your USB or memory card or connect to a Bluetooth device. Lights change according to the beat of your music. Can be used inside the Sensory Pop-up Tent.

 

Children's Telescopes

The Skywatcher Infinity 76 telescopes are great for introducing younger children to astronomy. These super-portable telescopes are easy to use and feature optical technology typically found in more expensive models. With 30x magnification, they can be used to observe both celestial and terrestrial objects.

 

Real Play

Real Play home packs make physical activity fun for the whole family. Available from all branches.  Each real play home pack includes a physical activity board game, adventure and activity books, sports equipment, including 3 balls and 3 cones, and Mini Challenge Cards with over 100 progressive challenges.

 

Nature Trail Packs

Nature Explorer Packs are available to borrow from the Central & Stopsley libraries. Includes spotter sheets, nature ID guides, magnifiers & more! Reserve to collect from your Luton library of choice! Age 3+. Adult supervison required.

 

Board Games and Jigsaws 

We also stock a wide range of classic and modern board games and jigsaws. Games for adults and families include: 'Kingdomino', 'Catan', ''Rummikub', 'Ticket to Ride' and 'Codenames'. Children's games include: 'Dobble', 'Penguin Pairs', 'Dinosuar Dominoes', and lots more. The main collections are at the Central Library. 

 

Jigsaw Puzzles for Dementia

Jigsaw puzzles are  good for your brain and can help you remember things better. They can also make you feel calm and happy, and can be a fun way to spend time with others.

Puzzles for dementia come in 13, 35, 63, and 100 pieces. The manufacturer recommends 13 and 35 pieces for mid-stage dementia and 63 and 100 for early-stage dementia.
